Mike Sherman

The Packers fired Head Coach Mike Sherman a day after their season ended. I never have been a big Mike Sherman fan but I totally disagree with his firing. How can you have faith in a coach and give him a contract extension before the season and after the season fire him? Yeah, they only won 4 games but his coaching wasn't the reason they had that poor record. Quite frankly I think they play pretty good this season. The Packers had 8 games they lost by a touchdown or less and if they didn't have the injuries to some key players they would have won some if not all of those games. The Packers also might have won some of the other games too . If Favre had Walker to throw to this season he may have cut those 28 ints in half. Sherman is not to blame. Tell me how the coach, Sherman hurt the Packers this year? Did he hurt Walker, Green, Davenport, Murphy, Franks, Diggs and others for part of the year? I know injuries are part of football and it is no excuse but losing players like that really can change games. Samkon Gado played well but is no starting RB in the NFL. Trying to win games with your practice squad is no easy task and Mike Sherman kept the Packers from totally falling apart. So what do the Packers do now? The Packers need to try to hire a coach in an offseason that many teams are in search of the same. So far Sean Payton, Maurice Carthon, Ron Rivera, Mike McCarthy have had interviews with Wade Phillips, Russ Grimm, Tim Lewis, And Jim Bates all expected to be interviewed. Out of that group, who is better than Sherman? By looking at them Russ Grimm looks like a Head Coach. Tim Lewis an ex-Packer CB. Sean Payton is supposed to be a young offensive genius. Maurice Carthon is O-coord. of the Browns. Ron Rivera D-coord of the Bears. Mike McCarthy is O-coord of the 49ers. Wade Phillips is a journeyman coach. Jim Bates is with the Packers already. So who do you think? I think they should all have a paper, rock, scissors tournament. I do not want any of them. If these guys are the possibilities they might as well rehire Sherman.
