NFL

The only sport that really keeps my attention year round is football. I love to think of the hypothetical scenarios that comes with the NFL draft and free agency, especially , when it comes to the Packers. I have read a few articles in newspapers from around the state and Mario Williams, the DE from N.C. State seems to be the medias pick for the Packers. I really do not know much about him but I am not going to argue. First of all, the media has no bearing on what Thompson is going to do. Second, free agency is starting on Friday, oh wait, it should be Monday now, and could paint fans a better picture of what may happen in April. Lastly, they are just like me(except they most likely have degrees) playing the hypothetic game.

The Packers cut linebacker Na'il Diggs Thursday, which makes me believe A.J. Hawk will be the Packers first round pick. Diggs release can be void if the Packers choose to due to the uncertainties of the Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA) but I really doubt they will do that. Would you want to play for someone who cut you then said nevermind?

I have heard some rumors that RB Jamaal Lewis, formally of prison and the Ravens, wants to become a Packer. Good running back coming off a terrible year, might be a bargain. I think if Lewis becomes a Packer or not, they should still sign Ahman Green to a one year contract and draft De'Angelo Williams from Memphis. With Favre pondering retirement the Packers need to have a strong running game to take the pressure off Favre or the incumbent at QB.

Grady Jackson is my main priority to sign, but he wants a long term deal. He is getting old and has had some injuries. If the Packers aren't able to work something out with Grady, there are two DT's the Packers must pursue and sign one of them. DT Sam Adams and DT Ted Washington. The Packers defensive philosophy calls for oversized DT that need to be double teamed so the LB can run all over the field untouched to make the tackle.

There are a lot of good free agents right now and anticipate more come Sunday. If the owners and the players association can not work out the CBA, the salary cap for 2006 will be 10 million less than anticipated, which means almost every team is going to have to cut someone. Most will be starters also.

The Packers should be ok salary cap wise because they took care of a lot of big contracts the last few years and should have some money to get a couple of needed players.

I really can't wait til Monday. Free agency is always a fun time for fans of the NFL. When all your hypothetic scenarios might become reality.

Jamal Lewis, bleh, I rather have Ray, this draft/free agency/offseason will carry alot of weight as far me being a Thompson supporter, or basher.

I think we could get Jamal for cheap and could be a steal. Thompson's moves will be under my scrutiny also.
